Ken grew up in Northern Virginia where he graduated from Garfield High School in 1989. He led the Indians to the first round in the state tournament and averaged 17 points & 7 rebounds. He was selected to The Coaches Group AAA All Northwest Region boys first team, The Coaches All Group AAA Commonwealth District Boys First Team, 1989 Potomac News All-Area First Team, 1989 Weekly Messenger All-Area First Team and was awarded Most Outstanding Player in the Commonwealth District Tournament, 1989 Potomac News Player of the Year, 1989 Coaches All Group , Commonwealth District Most Valuable Player, Weekly Messenger Most Valuable Player, MVP of the West at the VHSA ALL-Star Game and was CO-MVP of the Preliminary to the Capital Classic Game.

After being recruited by several Division-1 Universities, Ken started as a freshman at Chowan Junior College where he averaged 10 points & 4 rebounds per game in one season. He then transferred to George Mason University and after a frustrating year he transferred again to Virginia Union University where he played a major role in the team’s two CIAA Championship wins. After completing two successful years there, he was given the opportunity to go on to play overseas, playing in Belgium, France and Brazil. Ken also had brief stints with teams in the USBL including the Long Island Surf, Washington Generals and the Lancaster Storm where he played a full season. Ken’s experience, both home and abroad, and his understanding of the game have endowed him with the ability to carefully evaluate players and cultivate talent.
